WIN at ANZOS

In 2019, representatives of WIN were invited to speak at the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australian & New Zealand Obesity Society (ANZOS), the Australasian Society for Lifestyle Medicine (ASLM) and the International Chair on Cardiometabolic Risk (ICCR).

An important step for WIN, these meetings are forums for researchers, doctors, public health professionals and scientists to share ideas of how to create a healthier future based on the latest research and current practice. To have the voice of lived experience heard in this room of professionals was an invaluable step towards health professionals understanding the real, everyday experiences of people living with obesity.

The Obesity Collective Co-Design Event

In October 2019, some of our WIN leaders were involved in a design and planning event for The Obesity Collective. The Obesity Collective is an advocacy group with individual and organisation members whose aim is to achieve all levels of society working together to reduce obesity in Australia, and to improve care for those who for those who are affected. This was a great opportunity for the perspective of lived experience to be heard and our thoughts to be valued.
